My 2 cents

Hi All

My 5 general thoughts:

We need to stop couching out terms "2- ... that MAY cause fundamental change ... we COULD face threats to water etc..." the science is and has been pretty convincing for the past 20 years- we need to get past trying to limit the uncertainty of the science and start talking in a way whereby politicians/businesses etc are forced to take the science seriously!!! This is not going to happen within the 95% CI that scientists are taught to think within...

Where is the discussion on the inequalities in the current global system? Most of the worst impacts will be on the developing world that has contributed very little to these changes- there is no discussion of justice, addressing inequalities, N-S funding and capacities etc...

The only discussion on governance was on the need to include multiple stakeholders- but what about recognising that it will be messy, we understand the complexity of the problems (from a natural science perspective), but not the complexity/messiness of the solution- there is no silver bullet technical/economic fix and the sooner we realise this, the sooner we will be able to come up with solution that may actually be implementable across multiple scales and levels

Where are the incentives to change- where are the solutions? We know the planet is under pressure, we need to know what to do about it!

I also fully agree with the need to talk about other forms of knowledge!

Thanks,
Laura
